What Katie Paine Speaks About

Katie Delahaye Paine is a recognized authority  on all things measurement related. She consistently gets great reviews and has been recognized by both IABC and PRSA as a Gold-Level Speaker. She is available for hands-on interactive talks on such topics as:

While many people perceive measurement as a boring, dry topic, Katie consistently leaves her audiences not just informed but entertained. Her talks are a balance of storytelling (measurement case studies) and practical how to advice, so attendees can go home and put good measurement programs into practice right away.  She tailors her talks for each audience with appropriate case histories and does both hands-on training as well as formal presentations. Engage Katie for your next professional development conference or workshop. Below are a few of her recent topics:

  1. Beyond the Silo: It’s Time to Measure What Actually Matters, Impact on your Audience
    • Many of us in this industry have spent years perfecting the art of measuring the wrong things. We built sophisticated, channel-by-channel frameworks — PR metrics for PR, social metrics for social, influencer metrics for influencers —  But we were confusing activity for impact. Worse, ,measuring each channel in isolation doesn’t just limit your insight. It actively misleads you. Today’s audiences move fluidly across a vast and shifting constellation of sources — forming opinions through podcasts, peer networks, newsletters, short-form video, and channels we may not even be tracking yet. They don’t experience your communications one silo at a time. They absorb everything, synthesize it, and arrive at a single, powerful perception of your message or your organization. The most forward-thinking communications professionals are making a decisive shift: away from tool-based measurement and toward audience-based measurement. Instead of asking ‘how did our content perform?’ they’re asking the harder, more important question: ‘what do our target audiences now believe — and did we move the needle?’ In this session, Katie will  lay out a clear framework for measuring true communications impact — across every touchpoint your audiences use, and in terms your leadership will find impossible to ignore.
  2. Measuring What Matters in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
    • Whether we trust it or not, more than 90% of PR practitioners use AI in their work, either for content creation, idea generation or analysis. Which is, no doubt , making them more efficient but does it make them better, more trustworthy communicators. Maybe not. In this talk, Katie Delahaye Paine explores how AI-driven PR measurement can both help and hinder the delivery of good metrics. More importantly as AI-generated and AI-assisted content floods news, social platforms, and monitoring systems, repetition is increasingly mistaken for insight, and familiarity for fact. Drawing on decades of her measurement experience, Paine examines how AI can erode trust when used without transparency, validation, and human judgment—and why traditional media monitoring models are no longer fit for purpose. Attendees will learn what must change in dashboards, metrics, and monitoring platforms to distinguish evidence from echo, credibility from volume, and truth from noise.
  3. Measuring Your Impact: Stop Counting What You Did. Start Measuring What Changed
  4. How your metrics lie and how you can fix them
  5. Your Marketing Funnel is Leaking, PR Measurement can fix it. Best Practices in Measuring Internal Communications
  6. How to use Measurement to Avoid and Survive a Crisis
  7. How to Develop an Integrated Measurement Dashboard
  8. Best Practices in Measurement 2026
  9. The six steps to a perfect measurement system
  10. How to Measure the Unmeasurable: Trust, Empathy and Authenticity
  11. Stop Doing the Stupid Stuff! Use Meaningful Metrics

Thanks again for coming to share your wisdom and knowledge with our group. This was the first time in quite some time that we’ve had such an in-depth marketing workshop, and I know those in attendance walked away with a lot of valuable information to take back to their libraries.desc
