Last Monday, Katie spent time with the students of the VCU Social Media Institute via Google Hangout. She started off by discussing the Barcelona Principles and the importance of measurement that is standards-compliant. Then, the students had the opportunity to ask questions of their own.
Taught by Dr. Marcus Messner and Vivian Medina-Messner, this program brings together VCU students and college students from Iraq as they collaborate in small teams to plan social media projects for non-profit organizations.

Author’s note: I was fortunate to take part in this program last summer as a student. It was the best class I’ve ever taken (truly). Fun fact: my team was assigned to work with Katie and The Conclave on Social Media Measurement Standards 🙂
