Larry Hettinger is a psychologist who works in the area of system design. His has primarily focused on systems such as cockpits, control rooms, medical settings and other environments in which effective integration of humans and technology is important. He received his PhD from Ohio State in 1987 and since then has done research and design work for the US Navy, Air Force, Army and NASA, several Fortune 50 companies and numerous smaller companies and organizations. Prior to his current role he led communications research and measurement at Visa and Fidelity Investments. At Visa, George developed a global corporate reputation research program, which included both quantitative and qualitative research in 15 countries with multiple stakeholders. He also developed a standard reporting program for major employee events that provided feedback and insights on employee sentiment, understanding of strategy and other key business areas. At Fidelity Investments, George established a measurement framework, a custom media index to track the effectiveness of PR activities, and was instrumental in the development of an employee research panel for deeper insights. He also created Fidelity’s first social listening program and conducted extensive competitive and industry research.
George recently become a member of the Institute for Public Relations Measurement Commission.
